Colleen was born and raised in San Francisco Bay Area. Colleen Gallagher, a nurse in the ICU and also a spear fisherman, started her charity called Diving for a Cause. She had witnessed a friend spearfish, take the fish and give back to the local community. She wanted to do the same so she created DFAC. Now Gallagher uses her extra money, along with the help from host countries, to subsidize the costs for divers to travel to destinations and give back to the local communities with fish and community based service projects.
