DFAC has been invited to Costa Rica on the Osa Peninsula with Captain Oscar Villalobos Gardella of Maestro Spearfishing in November when the wahoo, dorado are plentiful as well as the ever-present yellowfin tunas.
Oscar is an amazing Captain, and explained that since the government ended its bilateral arrangement with the Asian fishing fleets, the tunas have rebounded rapidly and are just a short hour away from where we are staying.
The divers will adhere to the local rules of no more than 5 fish per day on the boat and target only the wahoo, dorado and tunas.
As the divers spend 4 days of spearfishing, 70% of their catch that is harvested is donated to the local needy families and children nearby. 30% the divers may take back to share with their family and friends. Our team of divers will also serve the community through various projects at the grammar school in town. This recipe of spearfishing and giving back has been successful with DFAC and we have no doubt that it will be here as well.
DFAC will be using two sportfishing boats for 8 divers total. 4 divers per boat. These boats will be led by Dr.Terry Maas who will guide the captains and crew on our spearfishing techniques .Participants can enjoy the various amenities at the Hilton, nature guided excursions, surfing, exploring, massages and relax by the pools.
