Join Diving For A Cause with Palapas Ventana on an expedition to the wild Pacific side of Baja.
We will stay in a sportsman style bunkhouse lodge located on the offshore islands of Magdalena Bay in striking distance to Thetis Bank and excellent blue water and reef spearfishing.
We will hunt the offshore buoys and banks for wahoo, tuna, dorado, and yellowtail ---and the inshore reefs for pargo and grouper.
Each trip is 6 nights and 7 days with 4 days of spearfishing for $880.
Day One: Arrive at either Los Cabos airport SJD or La Paz airport LAP and meet our driver to shuttle you to Palapas Ventana spearfishing resort on the Sea of Cortez side. Happy hour, briefing, and get to know the DFAC team. Sleep in casitas at Palapas Ventana. Please try to get a flight arriving before 4pm into Los Cabos or before 5pm into LaPaz.
Day Two: Get in the vans at 5am and head to our Mag Bay basecamp – spearfishing from 9:30am – 5:00pm
Day Three: Offshore spearfishing at Thetis Bank
Day Four: Offshore spearfishing on buoys
Day Five: Painting and planting trees at the islands Primary School
Day Six: Inshore spearfishing for Grouper and Pargo and return late to Palapas Ventana
Day Seven: Breakfast and shuttles to the airports – regresa pronto!!
Accommodations in our Mag Bay sportsmens lodge are bunkhouse style with simple bunkbeds, clean bathrooms, hot water, and power. Couples are welcome but there are no private rooms.
Additional days at Palapas Ventana may be added by request and are independent of Diving for A Cause.
The fish from this trip will be sold to raise money for more community projects at the primary school and town playground on the island.
COMMUNITY SERVICE- We will be painting and planting trees at the island’s primary school and town playground – bring clothes that you can get dirty!!
The cost is $880 for the diver and the following is included:
Lodging for 7 days and 6 nights
Pangas for the week in MagBay with diving for 4 full days Meals
Transportation by van from Palapas Ventana to MagBay
These costs are the sole responsibility of each diver and are paid on arrival to Palapas Ventana:
$40 transportation paid directly to the cab driver from airport to Palapas Ventana each way
Tips to boat captains
Extra beverages and meals requested by diver
1 week Mexican fishing license $40 USD
Tax for trip paid directly to Palapas Ventana $130
Please submit Application by March 1, 2013 for the trips to Thetis Banks and identify which week you are planning to attend.
Deposit of $500 must be received by April 1, 2013 with final payment of $380 due June 1, 2013.
Application can be emailed or mailed with the names and trip you are interested in attending.
Liability Release and Express Assumption of Risk Form must be submitted with payment.
Dan Trip Insurance is provided for each participant on every trip with DFAC. Dan Trip Insurance Coverage:

School Supplies: Gather your pens, pencils, crayons and paper for the schools. The divers will be bringing bags provided by DFAC that will carry these supplies to the needy schools of the community. DFAC will cover the extra baggage fee for these items and place them in the hands of the children who will benefit from them.

I understand that Diving For A Cause will incur costs associated with airfare, lodging, and other accommodations to facilitate my participation in this event. I further understand that all of these costs are nonrefundable to DFAC. As such, in the event of my cancellation, I recognize that any and all fees paid to Diving For A Cause in payment of my participation shall be non-refundable.
